As The Brees Chokes

So when do we have an honest conversation about Drew Brees?? He’s the lesser version of regular season Peyton Manning. A bunch of stats, a bunch of fantasy points, but no results with substance in over 10 years now. Tom Brady lost in the wildcard versus a pretty good Tennessee Titans team with wide receivers he has no trust in, wide receivers who don’t know where to go, don’t know what routes to run, and just overall not sure of what they're doing. Yet the story for the weekend is all about Tom Brady looking old, what T.V. are folks watching?? Drew Brees, at home, with the duo of Alvin Kamara and Latavius Murray, the matchup specialist Jared Cook, who has been surprisingly reliable for the most part this year, and outstanding offensive line bookended by two all pro tackles, and oh by the way one of the most dominating weapons we've seen on the outside over the last 20 years in the NFL. In case we need reminding, Michael Thomas set the NFL record for most receptions in a season with 149 to go along with 1,725 yards and 9 touchdowns. Drew Brees, with this assortment of weapons at his disposal, managed to only score 20 points against a secondary with banged up corners and old safeties. Are we supposed to crown guys for stuffing stats and winning fantasy football leagues? Where's the substance? Where's the Lombardis. Of the four quarterbacks part of the 70k yard club Drew is the only won with a .500 or worse record. Lets get one thing straight, Drew Brees is one of the best to ever play, but this idea he's in the conversation with Peyton Manning and Tom Brady is ludicrous, and Drew is my guy I ain’t trying to diss. There’s some things we need clarity on for the #2020vision to come to fruition. And amongst those things, Drew Brees is a tier 2 all time QB.
